Corrosion resistance and application of Hastelloy C276

Hastelloy C-276 is a tungsten-containing nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with extremely low silicon-carbon content, which is considered to be the universal corrosion-resistant alloy. The alloy has the following properties: ①Excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheric states. ②Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion. The higher molybdenum and chromium content enables the alloy to resist chloride ion corrosion, and the tungsten element further improves the corrosion resistance. Meanwhile, C-276 alloy is one of only a few materials resistant to corrosion by moist chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions, and has significant corrosion resistance to highly concentrated chloride salt solutions such as ferric chloride and copper chloride. It is suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid solutions and is one of the few materials that can be applied to hot concentrated sulfuric acid solutions.

Welding materials and welding process

The welding materials of Hastelloy C-276 are ERNiCrMo-4 wire and ENiCrMo-4 electrode, and the sizes of the welding materials are Φ1.0, 1.2, 2.4, 3.2, 4.0, and the origins are: American Hastelloy, American SMC and German Nickel.
